Missing Cable Clamp
June 13, 2011
This particular electrical box is missing one important part. There is suppose to be a side clamp that protects the cable. Without the clamp the cable may move or wear away the protective plastic shield covering and then short out or cause a fire.
The side piece could either be an actual clamp that screws down on to the cable, or a plastic cap that holds the cable in place without rubbing on the metal.
A help also is that the wiring coming into the box should also be stapled within 12 inches of the box - that will also prevent movement.
Also when done - do not forget the box cover.
